ABC News recently came out with an article that Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes has dropped all charges to prosecute marijuana offenders for the first 7 months of the year.

Does that mean…

no…

wait for it…

NO TICKETS FOR POSSESSION OR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION IN SEATTLE FOR THE FIRST 7 MONTHS AFTER THE LEGALIZATION OF RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA?????

This  raises the question of where do people smoke weed?? You have to consider what laws are enforced by policy.  We’re not saying go out and smoke weed on the street, but if you have no where else, you might want to know what the consequences are for violating the public consumption laws.

Seattle City Council set the public consumption of cannabis ticket to $27 which is equal to public consumption of alcohol. Victory!!

Seattle set this ticket price so low to encourage a change in behavior not to issue more tickets.  Seattle is a different world than say, Oklahoma or Texas. Cannabis is ingrained in the culture, and it’s not that big of a deal. Be respectful, use your best judgment, and be safe! If you have any concerns, read our Washington Marijuana FAQs.
