To the residents of Silverton, Oregon, the idea of a marijuana store in their neighborhood may have been a new idea. That’s not the case for Lesta Bently and Colby Jackson, co-owners The Lucky Leaf dispensary. They had the idea years ago and now it has come to fruition. They are the only legal marijuana retail store in town and, now three months in, they are ready for a big summer. This will be Oregon’s first summer with legal recreational marijuana and businesses are expecting it to be a good one. With early warmer weather tourism got off to start sooner than normal. So did the marijuana industry.
The Lucky Leaf sells both recreational and medical marijuana. As the laws changed June 2, they, like other licensed stores were allowed to carry vape cartridges, concentrates and edibles. Though Oregon is just dipping its toe into the edibles pool, allowing a meager 15 mg/ customer per day, it is something. Maybe that will reduce the incidents of customers not heeding the advice to ‘go low and slow’ when learning how to does with edibles? It pays to get advice form the right people when you shop.
If you head to The Lucky Leaf, Lesta will be happy to educate you further about medical marijuana use. She has years of practical application after helping two family members and many customers with cannabis therapy. Education is her passion and that is reflected in the mission of The Lucky Leaf. If you are in the area, check them out. They are also planning on doing some educational classes in the near future, so ask them about that when you stop by for your next recreational or medical groceries.
