New York expands their medical marijuana program!

Today is a great day for medical marijuana patients in the great state of New York. In attempts to expand the medical cannabis market in the state, the program announced this morning that they will allow individual hospitals to create their own policies in regards to allowing registered cannabis patients to medicate on site. This means that those who hold a MMJ card from the state will be able to use cannabis oil and edibles for medical reasons while they are in the hospital.

In addition to that, the state is now going to allow for product wholesaling. This means that those who are legally licensed to produce for medical dispensaries can now shop their product around and sell their wares at multiple locations, as opposed to providing for one specific location. This means that shelves won’t go empty if there were an emergency situation like a fire, and a crop was lost.

Can there be? There’s more!

Strain limits are now a thing of the past in New York. As it stood before today, each dispensary could only carry a limit of 5 different strains, which was hugely limiting for having the right strain to treat the wide variety of different ailments. Now dispensaries won’t be restricted to the amount of different strains they can offer.

Chronic Pain

Lastly, the state will now accept medical marijuana recommendations from licensed physicians for treatment of chronic pain. This means that if you suffer from any ailment where you are constantly in pain, you can soon receive a medical marijuana card to subdue your suffering. The state defined “chronic Pain” as follows:

“any severe debilitating pain that the practitioner determines degrades health and functional capability; where the patient has contraindications, has experienced intolerable side effects, or has experienced failure of one or more previously tried therapeutic options; and where there is documented evidence of such pain having lasted three months or more beyond onset, or the practitioner reasonably anticipates such pain to last three months or more beyond onset.”

It is so great that the state is expanding their medical marijuana program, and also becoming the first state in the country to allow for medical marijuana medicating on site in hospitals. This move only makes perfect sense to us, and we hope the state legalizes marijuana for recreational uses too in the near future!
