Glassblowing is a demanding art and no joke. It takes insane amounts of vision, patience and skills to create the one-of-a-kind glass pieces you see in stores. On our first Kush Tour last spring, we got a taste of glassblowing at 7 Point Studios’ Boro School. We fumbled and struggled, and in the end got some dabbers that looked more like something that accidentally melted on the stove than a work of art.

That’s why if you can make it to the First Annual Seattle Pipemasters Collab sometime this week, you should. It goes from Oct. 15 to the final closing night party on the 25th, 10 days of 25 of the finest glassworkers together in one studio creating art. Several local vendors of pipes, MMJ clinics and other lifestyle stores, including Tacoma’s Hippie House, Evergreen, Piece of Mind and our friends at Trichome, have also set up shop inside the studios to give cannabis enthusiasts a well-rounded taste of the Seattle scene.

“There’s nothing else like this,” said glassblower and exhibitor Jason Walker from Portland, Ore. “It’s a creative center of the most coveted artists in the industry, all here, working together. To be able to see their work and talk to them and learn from them, it’s just incredibly cool.”

Organizer and studio manager Brie Yost said the event had long been the brainchild of Boro’s owner Nathan “Nate Dizzle” Aweida. They started planning it in April and invited every stellar glassmaker they knew, who started “coming out the woodwork” when they heard about the event. “The show is going to grow every day until it’s closing, which will be the big final party where all the artists showcase the work they’ve been doing all week. Plus it’s for sale. It is going to be huge,” she says.

Here a few photos from the opening weekend:

Hosted at 7 Point Studios' Boro School, the studio space is incredible. We love coming down here. Always a lot of creative, fun stuff going on.

Inside the studios are several local businesses, ready to share samples and advice about cannabis and pipes.

A little dab will do you at the Dab Bar.

The First Annual Seattle Pipemasters Collab runs through next Saturday. Daily hours vary, but closing night tickets are $25 but you get $5 off with a nonperishable food donation. Check it out!
