The 40th largest city in the state of Massachusetts, Northampton, has a population of about 28,592. The city was officially incorporated in 1883, but settlement began as early as 1654. The town sits about 15 miles north of the city of Springfield in Western Mass.The city has a reputation for being forward thinking, artistic, and vibrant. If you’re looking for a mellow spot on the East Coast, Northampton might be just the ticket! The city is known as being the most politically liberal medium sized town in the entire country. In fact the area is known for having a large concentration of members of the LGBTQ community, and even has been referred to as “Lesbianville, USA.”
Today the amount of art, coffee shops, museums and other clear indicators of progressive thought overrun the town, and it couldn’t be a greater place to be accepted for who you are, not how you identify.

There is currently one medical marijuana dispensary located in town, and with the recent legalization of marijuana for recreational use in the state of Massachusetts, we hope that it will mean that some recreational shops will open their doors to the public in the area in the near future! We bet they do!
