With a population of about 38,499, the city of Marlborough is the 39th largest in the state of Massachusetts. The city was officially incorporated in 1660, and settlement only began 3 short years beforehand in 1657. The city is famous for being the first in the country to develop a streetcar system.Today the city is loved for its accessibility to running water. The Assabet River runs through town, and there are 3 large lakes as well for boating and other aquatic recreation. The river helped turn the town into a financial powerhouse during the Industrial Revolution as it helped power many factories and mills. Lake Williams, The Fort Meadow Reservoir, and the Millham Reservoir are all popular spots in the warm months to escape the summer heat.
More recently the town has shifted gears from being a producer of goods to being a tech town. Many of the city’s biggest employers are tech companies that are looking to expand the realm of possibility from a technological point of view.
Unfortunately there are currently no medical marijuana dispensaries located in town, but with the recent legalization of marijuana for recreational use in the state of Massachusetts, we hope that it will mean that some recreational shops
will open their doors to the public in the area in the near future!
