With a population of about 88,857, the town of Fall River is the 10th largest in Massachusetts. The town was officially incorporated in 1803, and has a rich history in textile production. Fall River is located at the mouth of the Taunton River, and today the town is more known for housing the largest collection of Naval ships from the World War II era. All the monstrous ships are kept in Battleship Cove, and even the USS Massachusetts is kept there, which truly is an awe inspiring sight to see. It is really cool to learn more about our country’s water-based warfare capabilities in the past and extrapolate what that means we are capable of today.

When the majority of Fall River was producing textiles, it wasn’t like they were making shirts and pants, but rather, the majority of the businesses in town specialized on printing cloth. The town’s largest employer, the American Printing Company saw to it that the town was the largest producer of the good in the country, and it put the town on the map. That being said, having only one major breadwinning industry in the town was also a risky move, and when the industry tanked, the town took a major hit. Fall River has since rebounded, and found a more wide breadth of industries to keep the town afloat in recent times.

Today, the town is known for being a diverse area and even has many different ethnic festivals that occur on an annual basis. Most of them are held at Kennedy Park, and some draw numbers that exceed 200,000 patrons. These events are great ways to learn more about different cultures and try their most delectable food offerings! These festivals are great ways to promote more ethnic tolerance and education, and we think it is great that the town sponsors such a wide variety of events!

Unfortunately there are currently no medical marijuana dispensaries located in town, but with the recent legalization of marijuana for recreational use in the state of Massachusetts, we hope that it will mean that some recreational shops will open their doors to the public in the area in the near future!
