Maine passed Maine Marijuana Legalization Act on November 2016, and became one of the first states on the East Coast to legalize the recreational use of marijuana! Maine has been tolerant of marijuana a long time – in November 1999, voters in Maine approved the use of medical marijuana. The law allows patients to possess up to 2.5 ounces of usable marijuana and cultivate up to six marijuana plants, with no more than three mature at one time.

Maine has seen incredible success with their medical marijuana industry, and pro-marijuana legalization groups have been pushing for recreational legalization. Maine’s medical marijuana program was voted the best in the country in 2014, and a 2015 poll of Maine residents show that 65 percent of Maine residents were in favor of legalizing recreational marijuana. Now that marijuana is legal in the state, individuals will be allowed to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana, including concentrates, and grow 6 flowering plants and 12 non-flowering plants. The Initiative also legalized marijuana social clubs!

How Many Marijuana Plants Can I Grow in Maine?

Maine has one of the most liberal laws concerning home cultivation. Adults over the age of 21 may have up to 6 plants flowering simultaneously, with an additional 12 plants in veg. This mean each adult may have up to 18 plants. This blows pretty much every other state out of the water! Congrats Maine residents, now get out there and raise yourself up a crop!

What is a dab?

Dabs are often compared to the hard liquor of the cannabis world, and can be found in many forms. Dabs are the essential oils and waxes of the cannabis plant that are extracted and concentrated into a potent wax form. They are known for their high concentration of THC. Smoking a dab is much stronger than smoking flowers. If you are not a regular cannabis consumer with a high tolerance, we recommend using extreme caution.

If you’re considering purchasing or doing a dab, it is also important to know what is in the essential oil being offered or sold and if it is safe. Many extracts may not have been purged correctly, and may contain residual amounts of butane or other solvents. CO2 oil is often noted as the safest oil because critical extraction machines that use CO2 as the only solvent extract it.
