When did voters pass a bill to allow marijuana to be sold in Nevada, and when did dispensaries actually start opening?

The first dispensary opened it’s doors on July 31st, 2015. After that they slowly have been popping up in different counties along the way. Recently the first one opened on the Las Vegas Strip. Medical marijuana statutes themselves first went on the books in 2008. There is also a proposition coming up in November (2016) to legalize marijuana entirely in the state of Nevada.

Marijuana is illegal in the state of Nevada. Possession of less than 1oz of marijuana has been decriminalized but still carries a fine. Possession larger amounts outside of the medical marijuana program is a criminal offense and could lead to jail time. There is a medical marijuana program that offers people with qualifying medical conditions access to medicinal marijuana. Medical dispensaries opened in 2015.

Medical marijuana bills were passed by voters in November of 2000. Dispensaries were not open in Nevada until the summer of 2015 mostly due to legislation that slowed down licenses for dispensaries. Recreational legalization is on the ballet for November 2016 for Nevada. Nevada is considered to be behind when it comes to marijuana legislation on the west coast, especially when compared to Oregon and Washington.
