As a matter of fact, in the year 2000 Hawaii was the first state in the nation to legalize medicinal marijuana. In 2015 the first dispensary was opened. In 2016, new laws were enacted to strengthen these dispensaries even further. Hawaii is on the verge of being tje first state to completely decriminalize marijuana possession altogether.
Hawaii allowed the use of medical marijuana in the year 2000. They became the very first state in the country to do so. It is very restrictive as only those with particular painful illness can use the drug. On July 15, 2015 Hawaii voted for a bill that at last made a marijuana dispensary system.
Hawaii first allowed seriously medically ill people to use marijuana for medical relief back on June 14, 2000, under the Act 228, Session Laws of Hawaii 2000. In January 2015 the HB 321 was introduced this allowed for medical marijuana dispensaries. It was passed by the House and Senate Legislature of Hawaii in the subsequent months. On July 14/15, 2015 Governor David Ige signed HB 321 and SB 1291 which prevents discrimination of medical marijuana patients.
