A person has to be 18 years of age in order to get a medical marijuana card in New York. A minor or person unable to to consent on their own may get one if: the parent or legal guardian consents, person appointed by parent or legal guardian consents or some the Department appoints (upon proof that no legal guardian/parent is available) consents for person to get a card.
The applicant for a medical marijuana card in New York must not be under the age of eighteen (18) or a person who is otherwise incapable of consenting to medical treatment, the application must be submitted by an appropriate person over twenty-one (21) years of age. There is a non-refundable application fee of fifty dollars ($50) that will be billed to you at a later date.
You need to be at least 18 to apply for a medical marijuana card if you meet New York’s strenuous eligibility requirements. But even under the age of 18, you can have your parents apply for a medical marijuana card on your behalf if you meet New York’s eligibility requirements.
