If you want to get a medical marijuana card in Illinois you will either need to be 18 years of age or older or if you are under that age you will need to get a signed written consent from your parents or legal guardians. Anyone is allowed to get it as long as they’re over 18 or have written consent from their guardians.
Originally when the laws were passed in Illinois in 2013 you had to be over the age of 18 to be able to get a medical marijuana card in Illinois. Effective January 2015 the laws were amended and added two important things. The first being able to have those under 18 meeting criteria could apply for a medical marijuana card with a caregiver. The second thing they added in were seizure related conditions for medical marijuana card eligibility.
You can get a medical marijuana card in Illinois at the age of 18, you must also be a resident of the state and provide that documentation in order to receive your card. You also have to provide documentation from you physician that you have been diagnosed with one of the medical conditions that have been approved for a medical marijuana card.
