Quick question. I’m interested in buying marijuana when I arrive, but I’m not exactly sure what I need to make that happen in Alaska. Could you help me out?
You cannot buy Marijuana in recreational stores as of 2016 and thus it is illegal to sell/buy it without a medical condition. possession and consumption is legal, there is no legal place to buy weed until recreational stores open. Note that it is legal for friends to gift you weed without compensation – up to 1 ounce or 6 immature plants and bringing weed into Alaska is a felony.
I would go to the local strip club and ask some locals that appear to be pot smokers-if you smoke then you could be able to sense who is a smoker & not…The strip clubs there are great places to go if you are young & single. I am almost 100% sure that there are no dispensaries that sell medical marijuana in Alaska. Naturally, if you see anyone wearing a marijuana shirt or hat it is a safe bet that they smoke so just go ahead & ask them, where you can get some…but of course stranger danger when your are traveling-trust your gut.
I think that you should join the Alaska cannabis club. They have a great website and it’s an excellent resource to connect you with good cannabis in Alaska. They will be able to provide a secure location in which to smoke and network with others. You won’t have to deal with people that you do not know and can have a trusted resource for cannabis.
Cannabis is now available legally in dispensaries to anyone 21 years of age or older. You can fly into Anchorage, go to Costco, buy a fishing license, purchase legal smoke at the dispensary, and drive to a cannabis friendly resort to comfortably and legally enjoy your vacation.
