A bill was passed on November 2014 to legalize Marijuana in Alaska. After polling, as per the majority of votes was a Yes to legalize the usage of the herb along with it followed the law which states that “the use of marijuana (is) legal for persons 21 years of age or older” and people can’t legally have more than 1 ounce of marijuana on them nor can they grow more than 4 ounces in their home.
Well Alaska has long been known to have used the medicinal plant for a long time so it came as no surprise that it was legalized. The vote for recreational use passed with a slight majority, 53 percent voting for yes and 47 percent voting for no. Now all 21 year olds can have it.
In November of 2014 the vote was put on the ballet for legal recreational marijuana, and passed as “Measure 2”. For the measure to end up on the ballet, it took a lot of work from pro-cannabis advocacy groups. Who had to create an image of what “Measure 2” would be, get the amount of petitions needed before bringing it forward to pass the Alaska board of elections so it could be put on the November ballet.
