I’m looking for some of the best smoke spots in Portland. There are parks all over the place, but I’m looking for the best spots based on privacy, the view, near by restaurants, and whatever else you can think of. So far this is what I’ve got.
The only places you can legally smoke in Portland other than a private residence are the NW Cannabis Club and on the High 5 Tours’ Yellow Bus
Portland will no longer allow events that have smoking at them.

Hmm… How is it legal on the bus and at the club?

The bus is rented for private tours so that is not considered smoking in public. The club is a private club that charges a membership fee so their club is considered private. The rules really don’t make sense but until some changes are made at the legislative level we will never be able to enjoy cannabis the way measure 91 intended.

Dude, there are tons of great smoke spots in Portland. There are lots of good parks in the area as you know, which near or after dark are great spots to smoke up. One thing I like to do is walk and smoke. I’ll just light up a J and walk around the city, taking in the sights, and smoking up. No one bothers you really, because it’s such an open and MJ-friendly city. It’s a good place to smoke up in public, so get high and have fun! 🙂

I think you should look at a spot like the Rocky Butte. It has a great view and there are some restaurants near by. The place is pretty big and you can always find a spot that is a bit obscured to do your thing. It is only a short drive from nearby establishments.

You have to be careful because of some crowds, but Skidmore Bluffs sits atop the cliffs. It’s an absolutely awesome place to be to smoke a joint. The best time to go is essentially anytime other than sunset, so unfortunately you’ll lose out on the best scenery. However, if you can wander a little further south, it clears out and you should be able to find a safe spot. Also, you can’t smoke here, but check out Ground Kontrol for old-school video games.

For privacy and a view that’s still close to entertainment, I’ve always preferred the Tom Mccall Waterfront Park. There’s rarely anyone there, and if there is they are not going to bother you and are probably just taking a stroll. There’s plenty of benches to sit on to view the water, and if you’re there in spring you can see the cherry blossoms. Pretty awesome smoke spot.

I definitely second the Rocky Butte for one thing. Other similar hiking type areas like Mount Tabor are awesome if you enjoy outdooring it and then chilling with a great view. Of course, these can present a challenge of unpredictable levels of privacy – you could have it to yourself, or you could be in a crowd. Depending on your preferences you might want to plan accordingly.

Sauvie Island is probably one of the most chill places I’ve ever spent a day smoking. Boxed in between the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, the island is huge and has a nature preserve, lots of trails, and astounding views. When I’m looking for seclusion, getting to my favorite spot involves leaving the Oak Island Trail, cutting through the grass field, and finding a nice big rock to sit on at Steelman Lake. This place is super mellow and peaceful.

If you’re feeling adventurous and don’t mind dodging another tourist or two, I definitely recommend Pittock Mansion, up the wildwood trail. You can get an amazing view of downtown and the mansion ground themselves are nothing to sneeze at, either. They tell you that 5 pm is the outside limit for when the grounds are accessible, but anyone can slip up there unnoticed. Definitely bring a friend.

I think you will be fine just walking around, as long as you’re not in places where you might upset people. Since it went legal I’ve noticed in my neighborhood (east side of the river) around all the bars at night there’s more people posting up on the streets smoking a J and conversing like people do with cigars. If you are by the convention center head down towards the east-side waterfront to a spot on the rocks by the river out of sight from the trail. I think it’s a great place to smoke.

Sellwood Park is cool for walking with a joint (as long as you stay clear of families). Lots of tall trees and out of the way places. There’s a beautiful overlook of Oaks Bottom Nature thing (lots of trails) and Oaks Park Amusement Park and the river.
The combo of nature and amusement park sounds is pretty rad.
Lmk if you want to meet up there for a stroll. haha…
