In 1858, gold was discovered in the South Platte River Valley, and the prospect of unearthing a fortune brought many people from all over the country to the area that is now known as Westminster. While Arapaho Indians had previously settled here, the land wasn’t officially recognized as a town until 1911, though they had a train stop which was erected in 1881.

Westminster is located 9 miles Northwest of Denver, and currently has around 106,114 residents. Though there are no retail cannabis shops in town, the town is still a pot friendly environment. With the proximity to Denver, the nearest shops aren’t too far away.

People who live in Westminster love it, and the town was even named to be the 24th best place to live in a July 2006 issue of Money magazine. There is an abundance of open space in town, with a multitude of trails of every difficulty. The most popular trail in town in the Big Dry Creek Trail, which ends in the majestic Standley Lake.

Westminster also offers a variety of outstanding golf courses as well, so if hitting the links is your thing, get ready to grip it and rip it! Located centrally between Denver and Boulder, Westminster is a great spot to live or visit for all of the opportunities the area can offer.
