In Lakewood

The fifth largest town in the state, Lakewood holds about 142,980, and sits seven and a half miles Southwest of Denver. There are several state licensed cannabis shops in Lakewood, and with the proximity to Denver, there is no shortage of top-shelf buds to be found here!

The city was founded as more of a community on the edge of the Great Plains, and just east of the Front Range of the Southern Rocky Mountains in 1889, but wasn’t incorporated until 1969. Before then, the town had no formal infrastructure in regards to fire fighting, law enforcement, or government. Until incorporation, there were still many streets without sidewalks or streetlights.

Today, Lakewood is a bustling suburb that has much to offer to tourists and residents alike. If you are itching to get outside and hike, go lake fishing, or traverse across paved and dirt biking trails, Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood may be just the place for you! The park sits on 2,600 acres of pristine Colorado land, ripe for exploration. If you’d rather leave civilization behind as you head up the mountainside, Hayden Park on Green Mountain can help get the blood pumping, and also offers stunning views.

If you’d rather exercise the brain, the Lakewood Cultural Center has plenty to absorb! The center contains a stunning 320 seat theater, regularly changing fine art exhibits, arts classes, and meeting and event spaces. The massive center is over 38,000 square-feet large and has something to pique the interest of anyone!

Lakewood also offers several fine dining experiences. One of the best restaurants in the area is 240 Union, perfect for an Anniversary dinner, or any other special occasion. Though, if you’re feeling less than high-society, Lakewood has many notable dining opportunities that are more affordable as well.
