In Johnstown
About 26 miles south of Fort Collins sits Johnstown, Colorado. The town holds about 15,000 people, and is home to many who get up early to work the land. Since the town’s incorporation in 1907, there has been a rich farming history, and the area sits on fertile grounds.
With much of the town’s population involved in agriculture, the weekly farmer’s markets on Fridays in August are not to be missed! The market takes place on the historic Parish St in the heart of downtown Johnstown.
One cool thing to check out if you are interested in history is the Historic Parish House and Museum. The museum is inside the original style of houses that date back as far as the town’s history goes.
For food, Santiagos and The Johnstown Lunch Box are among some of the places that locals recommend to check out.
Another main industry in Johnstown is the raising of livestock. There are many beef ranches in the area, which is nice because it can provide some restaurants in town farm-to-table meat options.
Currently there are no retail marijuana shops in Johnstown, hopefully you are resourceful! Another thing to be mindful of is that there aren’t really many options for lodging in town, so be sure to make plans in advance to stay in a neighboring town.
