One of the most interesting facts about the city is its relatively new sustainability project, named FortZED. FortZED is a private-public partnership initiative with a goal of using smart grid technology and renewable energy technologies with the goal of achieving local energy optimization. Fort Collins is very focused on pushing the limits on where the city of the future can go and they are setting a precedent with this project.
