Santa Clara is a hip and happening spot in the Bay Area. Located about 45 miles Southeast of Downtown San Francisco, the city has a population of about 126,000, making it the 48th largest town in the state. After being incorporated in 1852, the town grew rapidly alongside the Californian agricultural scene. The town was especially known for their production of vegetables and citrus fruits.
Today the town is well loved for its many opportunities to experience a uniquely Californian adventure. The town is home to Levi’s Stadium, which was the location of Super Bowl 50 in February of 2016. This is also where the beloved San Francisco 49’ers play. Also, for you Deadheads out there, this was the spot where 2 of 5 Fare Thee Well Grateful Dead 50th anniversary shows were held. This spot was where the first two shows were held, and a huge rainbow appeared over the audience on day one – many claim this was the work of former Dead frontman Jerry Garcia himself – though we’re still waiting back on confirmation.
Santa Clara is also home to California’s Great America theme park! Didn’t we tell you this town had it all? With all the fun rides and carnival games you can imagine, this facility is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more! With such an expansive park, it is almost impossible to see it all in a day, so keep that in mind while planning your trip!
Unfortunately there are currently no retail marijuana shops in Santa Clara. Hopefully since the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (Proposition 64) was passed on the 8th of November, retail loctions should open soon in town – because who wouldn’t want to burn a fatty and go see a football game, or ride a rollercoaster?
