Garden Grove is a town of about 175,000 people in northern Orange County. The town sits about 34 miles south of Los Angeles, and is home of the annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival!
The festival is one of the largest gatherings on this side of the country, with over 250,000 people attending each year. The event is held over Memorial Day weekend every year, and is highly anticipated by many! This area is well known for its fruit growing and fertile soil, so people come well out of their way to attend the yearly festival in town here.
If you’re a theater buff, The Grove Theater Center will satisfy all of your needs! The center houses both the Gem Theater, a 178 seat performance hall, and also the Festival Amphitheater, which can comfortably hold 550. The city of Garden Grove owns and operates the facility, which is pretty cool of them to provide cultural opportunities for their residents.
If you’d rather gain some historical perspective on the area, the Stanley Ranch Museum holds many artifacts from the town’s history in an area where several old buildings have been relocated for preservation reasons. This is a great place to learn about the significance of the area on a bigger scale.
There currently aren’t any marijuana shops of any variety, but the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA) was passed in November 2016, so some recreational shops may open in the near future! Here’s to hoping Garden Grove boasts a bountiful harvest!
