Though the history of Elk Grove, California goes back as far as 1850, they weren’t officially incorporated until the year 2000. With a population of just under 167,000 today, the town is the 30th largest in the state.
The area started growing rapidly around 1980 with tons of new housing being built on the north side of town towards Sacramento so that those who work in either Sacramento or San Francisco could comfortably live in Elk Grove and commute daily.
